HP PageWide Pro 700 series - A-sized long-edge-first media in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) leads to incorrect output orientation

Issue Description

If a user places A-sized (Letter or A4) paper in the ADF long-edge first, the output (copied page) may be printed with the wrong orientation (e.g. landscape rather than portrait) as shown below:
One possible cause of this behavior is the leading edge is getting caught on the cork separator in the ADF. If the edge of the separator pad becomes exposed, the paper will not engage the long-edge sensor flag. These components are shown in the photo below:

Workaround/Solution

Try the following workaround steps to resolve this issue:
  1. Release the top of the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) by lifting the latch at the bottom lip of the ADF.
  2. Press down on the cork separator pad so that the right hand lip of the cork is no longer exposed. Close the ADF. Ensure that the leading edge of the paper to be copied is pushed in far enough to trip the long edge sensor flag.
