HP Ink Tank 310, 410 Printers - Moving or Transporting the Printer

To safely move the printer for servicing, place the printer in a well-padded box and always keep the printer level.

note:
Placing the printer in a box is not required for transport, but it can help prevent damage or accidental ink spills.

To prepare the printer for transport, move the printhead carriage, and then turn off the printer.

Turn on the printer.
Open the exterior door, and then open the printhead access door.
Press and hold the Black Color Copy button for 3 seconds.

The carriage moves to the center of the printer.
Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.
Gently push down on the blue carriage latch.

The blue carriage latch opens.
Lower the printhead latch slightly, but do not close the latch. There should be a small gap between the carriage and latch.

caution:
Do not remove the printheads.
Push the carriage all the way to the far left.
Close the printhead access door, and then close the exterior door.
Turn off the printer.
Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.
Unplug the power cord from the outlet, and then disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Disconnect the USB cable from the printer, if it is connected.
Make sure the ink tank plugs are firmly inserted and all doors are firmly closed.

Once the printer is prepared for transport, package the printer to protect it during travel.

Retrieve the original printer box and packing material. If you do not have the original box and packing material, use a box that is large enough to hold the printer and packing material.
Pack the printer securely with the original foam or other packing material.
Place the printer in the plastic transport bag provided in the original box, or another plastic bag large enough to enclose the printer and packing material.
Roll the top of the bag to make a tight seal.
Place the printer in the box, and then tape the box flaps closed.

note:
Do not pack any ink bottles with the printer.
Keeping the printer as level as possible, transport the printer to the desired location or service center.

caution:
Do not tilt or turn the printer upside down during transportation.

Once the printer has been transported, unbox and set up the printer.

Remove the printer and packing materials from the box.
Connect the power cord, and then turn on the printer.
Open the exterior door, and then open the printhead access door.
Press and hold the Black Color Copy button for 3 seconds.
Wait for theprint carriage to move to the center.
Push the printhead latch down to close it, and then close the printhead access door and the exterior door.

caution:
Do NOT open the blue latch for ANY REASON unless inserting new printheads.
Load paper into the input tray.
The printer is ready for use when 0 displays on the printer control panel.
