Setting up the HP f310 Car Camcorder

This document applies to the initial set up of the HP f310 Car Camcorder.
The HP Car Camcorder is designed for real time video and audio recording when driving.
What's in the box?

Setting up the camcorder
Use the following steps to set up your camcorder.
Step 1: Insert the SD Card
Insert the memory card with the gold contacts facing the back of the camcorder. Push the memory card until it clicks into place.
  note:
Use a 16 or 32 GB, Class 6 speed or above microSD card for this camcorder.
Format the micro SD cards before the initial use.
To remove the memory card, push the edge of the memory card inward until you hear/feel it click, then allow it to push out until you can remove it from the slot.
  note:
Do not remove or insert the memory card when the device is turned on. This may damage the memory card.
Step 2: Mount to the windshield
The Car Camcorder is mounted inside the vehicle on the front windshield. Install the device near the rear-view mirror to obtain the best open-field view. Make sure that the lens is within the wiping range of the windshield wiper to ensure a clear view even when it rains. Do not touch the lens with your fingers during installation.
  note:
Do not install the device on a tinted window. Doing so may damage the tint film.
Follow these steps to mount the Car Camcorder securely to the windshield.
  1. Attach the bracket to the camcorder. Slide it into the bracket holder until you hear a click.

  2. With the suction-cup laying flat, position the suction-cup on the windshield.
  3. Hold the base firmly on the windshield and press down the clamp to mount the car holder to the windshield. Make sure the base is securely locked in place.

Step 3: Adjust the camcorder position
The Car Camcorder can be adjusted horizontally or vertically.
Loosen the knob to swivel the camcorder vertically.

Loosen the knob to swivel the camcorder horizontally up to 360°.

Tighten the knobs to make sure the device is securely locked in place.
Step 4: Connect camcorder to power
Follow the steps to provide power to the camcorder. Use only the supplied car adapter to power up the camcorder and charge the built-in battery.
  1. Connect one end of the car adapter to the USB connector of the camcorder.
  2. Plug the other end of the car charger to the cigarette lighter socket of your vehicle. Once the vehicle engine is started, the camcorder automatically turns on.
      note:
    The orange LED lights up while the battery is charging.

  note:
If the environment temperature reaches 45°C or above, the car adapter still can supply power to device, but it will not charge the Lithium-ion battery. This is the characteristic of Lithium-ion and is not a malfunction.
Step 5: Turn power on
The Car Camcorder can be turned on or off automatically or manually.
Auto Power On/Off
When the vehicle engine is started, the camcorder automatically turns on.
When the vehicle engine shuts down, the device automatically saves the recording and turns off the power within 10 seconds
Manual Power On/Off
To manually turn on the power, press the Power button.
To turn off, press and hold the Power button for at least 2 seconds.
To reset, press and hold the Power button for at least 5 seconds.
Step 6: Set Automatic Recording
The Automatic Record function automatically begins recording when the camcorder is turned on. Before using the device, we recommend you to enable the Automatic Record function. To enable the recording to start automatically after you turn on the power, do the following:
  1. Press the button to enter the on-screen display (OSD) menu.
  2. Press the button to select Automatic Record and press the button.
  3. Press the button to select On and press the button.

  4. Press the button to exit the menu.
Step 7: Set the date and time
To set the correct date and time, do the following:
  1. Press the button to enter the OSD menu.
  2. Press the button to select Date / Time and press the button.
  3. Press the button to adjust the value and press the button to move to another field.

  4. Repeat step 3 until the date and time setting is complete.
Step 8: Set the Universal Time Code (UTC)
Depending on your location, you may need to change the current UTC setting of the camcorder so that the correct date and time are updated when a GPS signal is detected.
  1. If recording is in progress, press the button to stop recording.
  2. Press the button to open the OSD menu.
  3. Use the buttons to navigate to the Satellite Synchronization option and press the button. Ensure that the On setting is selected and press the button again to view the UTC setting.
  4. Refer to the UTC Map and use the buttons to select the desired setting and press the button to confirm the setting.
  5. Press the button to exit the menu.

Step 9: Install the software
The CD provided includes SuperCar Software. This software allows you to review your trip through simultaneous views of your video, Google map tracking, G-sensor data, GPS Satellite signal, and electronic compass directions. Use the following steps to install the software on your computer.
  1. Place the CD disc bundled with the camcorder in your computer optical drive.
  2. If the CD executes automatically, the CD Start screen displays. Use Windows File Manager to navigate to the CD drive and execute the Install_CD.exe file if the CD does not execute automatically.
  3. Select the desired menu item from the CD Start screen to start the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Your camcorder is set up and ready to use.
