This document pertains only to HP Pavilion computers with the following computer case:

The edges of metal panels can cut skin. Be careful not to slide skin along any interior metal edge of the computer.
caution:
This product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a noncarpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (such as a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface.
warning:
Make sure the computer is disconnected from power before starting.
Step 1
Remove the right side panel.

Locate the expansion card slot lock on the back of the computer.

Remove the screw connecting the slot lock to the computer.

Step 4
Pull the expansion lock off the computer.

Detach any connectors from the expansion card.

Step 6
Pull on the edges of the expansion card to remove it from the expansion slot.

Carefully put the expansion card in the expansion card slot until it is secure.

Reattach any connectors to the expansion card.

The expansion slot lock has two hooks that fit into two slots on the back of the computer.

Step 4
Align the hooks of the slot lock into the slots on the back of the computer, and slide the lock into place.

Replace the screw for the expansion slot lock.

Replace the right side panel.
