HP Pro 3300 Small Form Factor PC - Removing and Replacing the Power Supply


This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the power supply for the HP Pro 3300 Small Form Factor PC.

Minimum skill level

The End-User should possess product-specific knowledge and technical skill on how to service the system, and have familiarity with the operating system.

The replacement part number will vary depending on the power supply that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP.

For customers in countries/regions with RoHS legislation* (e.g. EU, China, etc.) restricting the use of hazardous substances in electrical equipment. The use of the Original Spare part is regulated by RoHS legislation. If your unit contains a part that is labelled with the Modified Spare number, the Modified Spare must be ordered as the replacement part. If your unit contains a part that is labelled with the Original Spare number, please order the Original Spare as the replacement part. In this case either the Original Spare or the Modified Spare may be shipped which will not affect performance or functionality of the unit.

Power supply removal

  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
  2. Swing the optical drive cage up partially.
  3. Detach the power supply connector to the hard drive.
  4. Detach the power supply connector to the optical drive.
  5. Detach the power supply connectors to the motherboard.
  6. Clip any cable ties securing the power cables to other system connectors.
  7. Free the power supply connectors from the large cable guide on the bottom of the PC.
  8. Remove the four screws on the rear of the PC that secure the power supply to the unit.
  9. Press down on the power supply latch inside the PC, slide the power supply back into the unit, and pull the it entirely out of the PC.

Power supply replacement

  1. There is a slot on the side of the power supply, that fits onto a tab on the side of the PC.
  2. To replace the power supply, align the power supply against the bottom of the PC. Slide the power supply towards the rear of the PC until the power supply is secure.
  3. Reattach the four screws at the rear of the system.
  4. Connect the two power supply connectors to the motherboard and the power connectors to the optical and hard drives.
  5. Secure the power supply connector to the fan connector with cable ties.
  6. Swing the optical drive bay back into place.
