HP ENVY 100 (D410) and ENVY 110 (D411) e-All-in-One Printer Series - Blank Control Panel Display During Out of Box Setup

Issue
The control panel display on the product is blank after you turn on the product for the first time. The Power button () light is on steady, and the control panel is backlit.
Try the following solutions in the order presented to resolve the issue. When one of the solutions resolves the issue, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.
Solution one: Restart the product, check the cartridges, and then reset the product settings
Follow these steps to restart the product, check or install the print cartridges, and then manually adjust the settings from the control panel.
Step one: Restart the product
  note:
Restarting the product bypasses the onscreen animated setup, and the product settings default to North America/US. You will need to manually adjust the settings for your country or region.
  1. Press the Power button () to turn the product off.
  2. Press the Power button () again to turn the product back on.
    The Home Screen displays on the control panel display.
Step two: Install the print cartridges, if you have not already installed them
Follows these steps to install the print cartridges.
  1. Check to make sure that there is paper loaded in the product.
  2. With the product turned on, open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the center of the product. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. Lift the lid on the carriage slot to release the cartridge, and then pull the cartridge out of the slot to remove it.

  4. Remove the new cartridge from its packaging, and then pull the pink pull tab to remove the plastic tape.

      caution:
    Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

  5. Hold the cartridge at a slight upward angle with the cartridge contacts facing the rear of the product, and then slide the cartridge into the empty slot.
      note:
    Insert the color cartridge in the slot on the left. Insert the black cartridge in the slot on the right.
  6. Close the lid on the carriage slot to secure the cartridge into place.

  7. Repeat the previous steps to install the other cartridge, if necessary.
  8. Close the cartridge access door.

  • If the product prompts you to align the cartridges, follow the step to align the cartridges.
  • If the product does not prompt you to align the cartridges, skip the next step, and follow the step to manually reset the product settings from the control panel.
Step three: Align the cartridges
After you install the cartridges, the alignment process should begin automatically. The product prints an alignment page. If the alignment process does not begin automatically, follow these steps to align the product.
Step four: Manually reset the product settings from the control panel
Follow these steps to adjust the product settings for your language, country or region, and network.
  1. Touch Setup () on the product control panel.
  2. From the Setup menu, touch Preferences.
  3. On the Preferences menu, touch Set Language.
  4. On the Set Language menu, select your desired language.
    The language displayed is now your desired language.
  5. Press the Back button on the control panel to return to the Preferences menu, and then touch Set Country/Region.
  6. From the Set Country/Region menu, select your desired country or region.
    The Preferences menu displays.
  7. Set the keyboard language.
      note:
    The Set Keyboard Language option is not available on all models. Skip this step if you do not see Set Keyboard Language as an option in the Preferences menu.
    From the Preferences menu, touch Set Keyboard Language.
    From the Set Keyboard Language menu, select your desired keyboard language.
  8. Connect the product to a network:
    1. Touch Setup () on the product control panel, and then touch Network.
    2. On the Network menu, touch Wireless Setup Wizard
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to a network.
    4. Press the Home button on the product control panel.
  9. Press the Power button () to turn the product off.
  10. Press the Power button () again to turn the product back on.
  11. Confirm that the language displayed is your desired language.
  • If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.
