HP Compaq nc4010 Notebook PC - Removing and Replacing the Internal Memory Board

Introduction
This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the internal memory board for the HP Compaq nc4010 Notebook PC.
Minimum skill level
The End User requires no hardware-specific training to replace the defective part. The End user should have familiarity with system hardware and software requiring repair.

The replacement part number will vary depending on the internal memory board that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP.

In this case either the Original Spare or the Modified Spare may be shipped which will not affect performance or functionality of the unit.

Internal memory board removal
  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
      caution:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
  2. Push both arms outward simultaneously to release the internal memory board to the spring tension position.
  3. Grasp the internal memory board by the edges and pull gently to remove it.
  4. Place the internal memory board in a static dissipative bag.
Internal memory board replacement
  1. Remove the internal memory board from the static dissipative bag.
  2. Locate the alignment slot and align it to the empty board receptacle.
  3. Grasp the internal memory board by the edges and push gently to replace it.
  4. Press the internal memory board down to latch the arms.
