    Information regarding recent vulnerabilities

    HP is aware of the recent vulnerabilities commonly referred to as "Spectre" and "Meltdown". HP has published a security bulletin with patches for these issues and a list of impacted systems. We will continue to update the bulletin as more information becomes available and encourage customers to check the bulletin frequently.

HP Scanjet 7650/8200/ 8250/ 8270/ 8290/ 8300/ 8350/ 8390 Scanners - Mac OS X: Software Overview

Issue:
The following document provides screenshots and an overview on using the HP Scanning software for Macintosh OS X.
Solution
HP Scanjet Device Manager software:
Devices:
  • The Devices drop-down menu allows for more than one HP Scanjet scanner to be controlled and configured in the instance where more than one HP Scanjet is connected to the same system
Tasks:
  • Double-click any of these options to perform its defined action
Information and Settings:
  • Clicking the Gear icon drop-down list will produce the following menu
About HP Scanner Software:
  • This option will display the window shown below. From this window the user can obtain the full version number of the HP Scanjet software
Register your HP scanner:
  • This option will open the user’s default browser to the Product Registration page of the HP web site
Scanner preferences:
  • From with in the Scanner preferences the actions taken by each button on the scanner’s control panel or the options listed in the Device Manager can be customized to suit the customer’s individual needs
  • The Scanner drop-down box allows the user to customize individual canners if more than one is installed on the same system
  • The Scanner Buttons tab will be selected by default when the Scanner preferences option is selected in the Device Manager
      note:
    The Scanner Buttons tab and the Device Manager tab options are visually identical.
  • The various scan presets can be modified, by selecting the preset from the first drop-down list of the Scanner Buttons or Device Manager tabs
Original:
  • This option is used to describe the source material being scanned
Scanner Output
Scan
  • This option is used to define how the original document is to be captured
  • Single Image to a single file will capture the selected area to a single image file
  • Multiple images to individual files will capture multiple images placed on the scanner bed to separate image files
  • Multiple images to a single file will capture multiple images placed on the scanner bed to a single image file
  • Entire scanning glass will capture the entire content of the scanner bed to a single image file
Resolution
  • This option is used to modify the detail the scanned image file is to hold. Higher resolution means more image detail and larger files sizes
Scale
  • This option modifies the size of the scanned image in relation to the size of the original image by use of a percentage
Type
  • This option selects the type of image to be saved
  • Millions of colors will save an image in full color
  • Grayscale will save an image with only levels of gray in place of color
  • Black & White will save an image with only black and white color values
  • The Preview output before scan is completed check box allows the output file(s) to be viewed before the final file is created this allowing last minute modifications to take place
Destination
  • This is a list of applications, options and file types to detail how the scanned image(s) are to be handled after the scan process is completed
Scanner Lamp
  • This tabbed option lists the power management options for the scanner lamp
