Loading Paper - HP DeskWriter/DeskJet 550C, 560C, and 520 Printers
1. Open (lift) the out Tray cover.
2. Pull out the paper tray extender. With the paper tray extender open, the in Tray is exposed.
(In some of the original HP DeskWriter 550C printers the paper tray extender actually looked like a drawer, it serves the same purpose as either the drawer or the paper tray extender.)
3. Slide the paper width adjustment lever to the appropriate size setting.
- Letter/Legal
- A4
- Executive
- Envelope
4. Insert the stack of paper squarely into the IN Tray, PRINT SIDE DOWN.
Make sure the right edge of the paper is aligned against the right wall of the IN Tray.
5. Push the paper tray extender in toward the printer, making sure the paper does not buckle in the IN Tray.
6. Slide the paper width adjustment lever to the right, making sure the paper does not buckle in the IN Tray.
This will ensure that the right edge of the paper is aligned against the right wall of the IN Tray and minimize skewed printing.
If you are using U.S. letter (8.5 x 11 in) or legal size (8.5 x 14 in) paper, slide the lever back to the left.

3. LOADING TRANSPARENCIES - Follow loading instructions listed above, but insert at least 10 (HP Premium) transparencies for proper loading (if you have less than 10 transparencies, you may need to load transparencies on top of paper already loaded for proper loading). Load transparencies rough side down, the rough side is the print side.
