HP Designjet Printers - Using Special Terminators

Issue:
When the Special Terminator option should be used.
Solution
This option is generally selected in cases where older Hewlett-Packard Graphics Languages (HP-GL) drivers fail to send appropriate end-of-file terminators such as PG; or NR;. Try using the Special Terminator front panel option (part of the Printer Setup option), in the following cases:
Consecutive plots are overlaying one another
This could mean that the driver generating the plot information is not ending each plot with the normal end-of-file terminator such as PG; or NR;. By selecting the Special Terminator option, the printer recognizes the SP; and SP0; as terminators in addition to PG; and NR;. When the printer receives either of these commands, the plot is terminated, and paper advanced. The printer is then ready for the next plot.
Plots are not plotting
This could mean that the driver generating the plot information is not ending each plot with the normal end-of-file terminator such as PG; or NR;. In this case, the printer is waiting for the end of file terminator or the pre-set Time Out before it begins to plot. If the printer Time Out option is set to a high value, the person operating the printer may cancel the plot before plotting occurs. By selecting the Special Terminator option, the printer recognizes the SP; and SP0; as terminators. When the printer receives either of these commands, the plot begins. Plot termination occurs normally.
 note:
Setting the front panel Time Out option to a lower value may have the same effect as turning on the Special Terminator option. The Time Out value is the amount of time the printer waits for data before considering the plot complete.
