Download and Install a Mac HP Printer Driver and Software

This document is for HP printers that have downloadable drivers for Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite, 10.9 Mavericks, 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.7 Lion, and 10.6 Snow Leopard.
Install the Mac printer driver and software from the HP website. When prompted to choose a connection type during the installation, choose the USB, Wireless, or Wired option, depending on your printer and connection preferences, to complete the installation.
  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Disconnect the USB cable from the printer and the computer (if you already connected it). If the printer is connected to your network, leave it connected.
  3. Use one of the available methods to identify your printer model.
    The Software & Drivers page displays when the printer model is identified.

  4. Select your operating system, and then click Submit.
    A list of drivers and other downloads displays.
  5. Under Driver - Product Installation Software, click Download.
  6. If an HP Download and Install Assistant window displays, select Use HP Download and Install Assistant (Recommended) or Download only, and then click Next.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to save the driver to your computer.
  8. If you used the Download only method, open or run the driver file, and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
