Checking Ink Levels for HP Deskjet 1000 (J110a), 2000 (J210a), 3000 (J310a), and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2010 (K010a) Printer Series

This document is for the HP Deskjet 1000 (J110a), 2000 (J210a), 3000 (J310a), and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2010 (K010a) printers.
Monitor the tri-color and black ink cartridge levels from the printer control panel. Replace any low or empty ink cartridges to avoid print quality issues.
 note:
If you installed a refilled or remanufactured ink cartridge, or an ink cartridge that was used in another printer, the ink level indicator might be inaccurate or unavailable.
  1. Open the printer software.
    • Windows 8:
      If you are not using the latest version of Windows 8, the information in these steps might not match. You can get the latest version from the Microsoft Store.
      1. Right-click the Start button () in the lower left corner of the screen, and then click Search.
      2. Type HP in the search box.
      3. Click your printer (). The printer software opens.
       note:
      You can also open the printer software from your computer desktop: double-click the icon for your printer ().
    • Windows 7 or Windows Vista:
      Click the Windows icon (), click All Programs, click HP, click the folder for your printer, and then click the icon for your printer (). The printer software opens.
       note:
      You can also open the printer software from your computer desktop: double-click the icon for your printer ().
    • Windows XP:
      Click Start (), click All Programs, click HP, click the folder for your printer, and then click the icon for your printer (). The printer software opens.
       note:
      You can also open the printer software from your computer desktop: double-click the icon for your printer ().
  2. Click Estimated Ink Levels. A graphic that represents the estimated ink levels for your printer displays.

 note:
Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. When an indicator shows low-ink levels, consider having a replacement cartridge available to avoid possible printing delays. You do not need to replace cartridges until print quality becomes unacceptable.
