HP DeskJet printers - Slow printing with HP Glossy Brochure or Professional Paper (Windows 10)

After sending a print job, the printer prints very slowly. If the default paper type is set to HP Glossy Brochure or Professional Paper, the printing time can range from 20 seconds to 8 minutes per page.
This document applies to HP DeskJet 1210, 1211, 1212, 1213, 2710e, 2720e, 2721e, 2722e, 2723e, 2742e, 2752e, 2755e, 3730, 3752, 3755, 4110e, 4120e, 4121e, 4122e, 4123e, 4130e, 4132e, 4152e, 4155e, 4158e, DeskJet Ink Advantage 1215, 1216, 1217, 1218, 1275, 3775, and 3785 printers.

Step 1: Change the default paper type

Change the default paper type to plain paper in the printing preferences menu.
  1. On your computer, search for and open Control Panel, and then select View devices and printers.
  2. Right-click the printer icon, and then select Printing preferences.

  3. On the Paper/Quality tab, select Plain Paper from the Paper Type drop-down.

  4. Click OK, and then send a print job.
If the issue persists, continue to the next step.

Step 2: Reinstall the print driver

Reinstall the print driver to help resolve any issues.

Step 3: Service the printer

Service or replace your HP product if the issue persists after completing all the preceding steps.
Go to Contact HP Customer Support to schedule a product repair or replacement. If you are in Asia Pacific, you will be directed to a local service center in your area.
To confirm your warranty status, go to HP Product Warranty Check. Repair fees might apply for out-of-warranty products.
