HP Touchpoint Manager - Password Management and Recovery in HP Touchpoint Manager

Use the following information for password management and recovery with HP Touchpoint Manager.
How do I reset my HP Touchpoint Manager password?
Use the following steps to change your HP Touchpoint Manager password.
  1. On the HP Touchpoint Manager dashboard, select Edit User Profile.

  2. Under Change password, select Edit.

  3. Enter the old password, enter the new password, and then confirm the new password. When done, select Save.

Why can’t I login after resetting my password?
Popular browsers such as Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Firefox can store previous passwords for Sign In screens if you have accepted this option. Be sure to clear any pre-populated password that might display in the password field before you sign in with your new password. Complete the steps under Password Recovery to reset your password.
 note:
If an incorrect password is populated in the password field after the password has been reset, and you make 5 attempts to sign in, the account will be locked. Be sure to clear this field and enter your new password before clicking Sign In.
Recovering your password
If you forget your password, you need to reset the password using the Password Recovery feature. Use the following steps.
  1. Click Can’t access your account? at the bottom of the sign in screen.

  2. Confirm your email address, and then select Submit.

    You’ll see the following screen, which will be followed by an email arriving in your mailbox.

  3. You will receive an email allowing you to confirm your request. Open the email message and click the Reset your password button located in the email body.

  4. Once your new password is created, you will be prompted to sign back into HP Touchpoint Manager.
    Enter your new password in the password field before clicking Sign In.
     note:
    HP highly recommends that you clear any pre-populated password that might display in the password field. Popular browsers such as Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Firefox can store previous passwords for Sign In screens if you have accepted this option.
How do I activate HP Password Recovery?
The HP Password Recovery (HPPR) feature can be distributed automatically to any enrolled devices associated with accounts where users have upgraded to Pro.
By default, the feature is NOT automatically distributed to enrolled devices, so users must enable this feature by following these steps:
  1. Log onto the HP Touchpoint Manager portal: http://www.hptouchpointmanager.com.
  2. Select Services, and then select Password Recovery.
  3. Select the Deploy HP Password Recovery to Windows devices check box, and then select Save.
    The setting takes effect immediately, and any devices enrolled to the HP Touchpoint Manager account will receive the HP Password Recovery feature.
     note:
    If an Employee user has multiple Windows devices, then each device has a separate question/answer pair for password reset.

How do I configure HP Password Recovery?
After the HP Password Recovery provider is installed, users complete three security credential questions. The answers to these questions authenticate users who have forgotten their Windows passwords.

After the security questions are created, HP Password Recovery is displayed below the password entry text box on the Windows Login screen.

How do I reset the Windows Password?
Use the following steps to reset the Windows password on a device.
  1. Select HP Password Recovery, and then enter answers to three previously chosen questions.

  2. After the correct answers have been provided, reset the forgotten Windows Password.
     note:
    If the Windows account is a domain account, the device must be connected to the domain to reset the Windows password.
     note:
    For domain accounts, if the Windows password was reset on another device, the security questions previously chosen will no longer take effect. The user must follow the instructions below and reset the HP Password Recovery security questions to get HP Password Recovery back to a working state.
Can I reset the HP Password Recovery security questions?
Yes. Use the following steps to change the security questions previously chosen.
  1. Select HP Password Recovery, select Reset HP Password Recovery, and then enter the password for the Windows account.

  2. After the correct Windows password is entered, you can choose a new set of security questions for the Windows account.
Can I disable the deployment of HP Password Recovery?
Yes. To disable deployment of the HP Password Recovery feature to newly enrolled devices, follow these steps.
  1. Log onto the HP Touchpoint Manager portal: http://www.hptouchpointmanager.com.
  2. Select Services, and then select Password Recovery.
  3. Clear the Deploy HP Password Recovery to Windows devices check box, and then select Save.
    The setting takes effect immediately, and any devices enrolled to the HP Touchpoint Manager account will no longer receive the HP Password Recovery feature.
     note:
    Removing this setting does not remove HP Password Recovery from devices that already have this feature installed.

How can I uninstall the HP Password Recovery software after it has been installed by HP Touchpoint Manager?
The HP Password Recovery (HPPR) feature allows Windows users to reset forgotten passwords on any enrolled Windows devices managed by HP Touchpoint Manager. This feature is distributed automatically to any enrolled devices associated with accounts where customers have upgraded to the Pro Package.
If you want to uninstall HPPR from the device, follow these steps:
  1. The IT administrator must first de-enroll the device from HP Touchpoint Manager. Log onto the HP Touchpoint Manager portal: http://www.hptouchpointmanager.com.

  2. In Touchpoint Manager, navigate to the Devices page.

  3. Select the device to be removed, and then click Remove Selected Devices.

  4. Click Remove to confirm deletion.

  5. On each device, uninstall the HPPR module via the Control Panel.
    Click the Program icon or Program and Features icon in the Control Panel. A list of installed software displays.

  6. Click HP Password Recovery to initiate the uninstall.

     note:
    If you have a Pro subscription and re-enroll the device, the HPPR module will be reinstalled automatically. In future releases HP may enable a mechanism to disable deployment of this feature for Pro subscription customers on specific devices.
