Setting Up the Printer for a Wired or Wireless Network in Mac OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion for the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer, LaserJet Pro M1212nf and M1217nfw Printer Series, and HP HotSpot LaserJet Pro M1218nfs MFP Series

Introduction
This document explains how to install your printer for a network connection on a Mac running OS X Mountain Lion.
 note:
Updated full-feature HP drivers and software for Mountain Lion are not available for your printer. As a workaround, you can use your printer by connecting it to the network with Apple AirPrint.
Installing the printer for a network connection with AirPrint
Apple AirPrint provides basic printing functionality when connected to a wireless or wired (Ethernet) network. No additional software is downloaded or required when you install with AirPrint.
 note:
Some printers might require a firmware update to enable AirPrint compatibility, depending on the model and purchase date. HP always recommends updating to the latest firmware version for the best performance and functionality.
Follow these steps to install an AirPrint printer in Mountain Lion.
  1. Turn on the printer, and make sure that it has paper in the tray and that it is in a ready state.
  2. Make sure that the printer is connected to the wireless or wired (Ethernet) network.
  3. Click the Apple menu (), and then click System Preferences.
  4. Click Print & Scan.
  5. Click the plus sign () at the bottom of the left pane.
  6. Under Nearby Printers, click the name of your printer.
     note:
Make sure that the printer kind is Bonjour or Bonjour Multifunction.
  7. Click the Use box, and then select AirPrint from the pop-up menu if it is not selected already.
