HP Printers - Uninstalling the Printer Software (Mac)

This document is for uninstalling printer software from computers using Mac OS X v10.10, OS X v10.9, OS X v10.8, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.6.
In order to remove a printer from your computer, you will need to uninstall the printer software. By using HP Uninstaller or Apple Software Updates you can quickly begin the uninstall process.
Step 1: Uninstall HP printer software through HP Uninstaller
Uninstall the printer software using HP Uninstaller for Mac OS X v10.10, OS X v10.9, OS X v10.8, OS X v10.7, and OS X v10.6.
  1. On the desktop, double-click the Macintosh HD icon ().
     note:
    If the Macintosh HD icon is not on the desktop, click the Finder (
    ) icon in the dock.
  2. Click Applications, and then click the Hewlett-Packard folder.
  3. Double-click the HP Uninstaller.
    The HP Uninstaller opens.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Select the printer to remove, and then click Uninstall.
  6. When prompted, type the Administrator name and Password, and then click OK.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstall.
     note:
    By clicking OK, all items in your trash will be permanently deleted from your computer. To delete one item in the trash, click that item to highlight it, and then click OK.
Step 2: Uninstall if you used Apple Software Updates
Uninstall the printer software if you used Apple Software Updates to install the printer software for Mac OS X v10.10, OS X v10.9, OS X v10.8, OS X v10.7, and OS X v10.6.
  1. From the computer desktop, double-click the Macintosh HD icon.
     note:
    If the Macintosh HD icon is not on the desktop, click the Finder (
    ) icon in the dock.
  2. Double-click the Library folder.
  3. Double-click the Printers folder.
  4. Right-click the HP folder, and then select Move to Trash.
  5. When prompted, type the Administrator name and Password for the computer, and then click OK.
    Wait for authentication to complete.
  6. Double-click the PPDs folder.
  7. Double-click the Contents folder.
  8. Double-click the Resources folder.
  9. Find your printer in the product list, and then right-click on your printer and select Move to Trash.
  10. When prompted, type the Administrator name and Password for the computer, and then click OK.
    Wait for authentication to complete.
  11. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstall.
     note:
    By clicking OK, all items in your trash will be permanently deleted from your computer. To delete one item in the trash, click that item to highlight it, and then click OK.
