LaserJet M1319f Multifunction Printer - An Error Message Appears on the Display

Issue
An error message appears on the product control panel. Click the error message in the following table to link to the solution in this document.
Try the solutions for your error message in the order presented. After each solution, try sending or receiving the fax again to see if you resolved the error
Fax COM error
A 'Fax COM' error message displays on the product control panel while sending or receiving a fax.
Solution one: Send or receive the fax again
If this error message appears while sending a fax, allow the product to retry sending the fax again.
If this error message occurred while receiving a fax, ask the sender to resend the fax.
  1. Press the Setup button ().
  2. Use the Arrow keys () to select Fax setup, select All faxes, select Fax speed, select Slow, and then press OK.

  2. Use the Arrow keys () to select Fax setup, select All faxes, select Error correction, select Off, and then press OK.
     note:
    Turning off Error Correction Mode (ECM) reduces image quality.
Solution four: Print a fax activity log
The error might be related to a specific fax line. Print a fax activity log from the control panel to help troubleshoot this issue. If a specific line has the error, contact the owner of the affected fax line to troubleshoot the fax line settings.
  1. Press the Setup button ().
  2. Use the Arrow keys () to select Reports, select Fax reports, select Fax activity log, and then press OK.
    The activity log prints.
Memory full error
The error message 'Memory full' displays on the product control panel while sending or receiving a fax.
Solution one: Perform a power cycle
Turn the product off, and then turn the product back on.
Solution two: Break the fax into smaller sections
Break the current send job into multiple faxes. If you are receiving a large fax, ask the sender to break the fax into smaller fax transmissions.
Solution three: Clear stored faxes
  1. Press the Setup button ().
  2. Use the Arrow keys () to select Fax functions, select Clear saved faxes, and then press OK.
Solution four: Ask the sender to reduce fax resolution
Resolution settings on the sending machine might be set higher than normal, which creates a larger sending file size. Make sure the sender's resolution is not set to photo or superfine.
Fax storage full error
The error message 'Fax storage full' displays on the product control panel while sending or receiving a fax.
The memory might be full with faxes that are stored in memory. Print any faxes you would like to keep, then delete them from memory. See the following steps to print and delete the stored faxes:
  1. Press the Setup button ().
  2. Use the Arrow keys () to select Fax recv. setup, select Reprint faxes, and then press OK.
  3. Use the Arrow keys () to select the fax you want to print, and then press OK.
    The fax prints.
  4. Press the Setup button ().
  5. Use the Arrow keys () to select Fax functions, select Clear saved faxes, and then press OK.
Solution two: Perform a power cycle
Turn the product off, and then turn the product back on.
Solution three: Break the fax into smaller sections
Break the current send job into multiple faxes. If you are receiving a large fax, ask the sender to break the fax into smaller fax transmissions.
Fax busy error message
The error message 'Fax busy' displays on the product control panel while sending or receiving a fax.
Solution one: Make sure the other fax is ready
Call the fax recipient to make sure the receiving fax machine is on and ready.
Solution two: Resend the fax automatically
After the fax has failed to send, allow the product to try to send the fax again.
Solution three: Send the fax later
The product cannot receive a fax while trying to send one. Cancel the current fax, and then try faxing at a later time.
No answer error message
The error message 'No answer' displays on the product control panel while sending or receiving a fax.
Perform a fax line test to check whether the fax line is properly connected.
Step one: Run a Fax Test
  1. Press the Setup button () on the product control panel.
  2. Use the Arrow keys () to select Service, select Fax Service, select Run Fax Test, and then press OK.
    The Fax Test prints.
    • If the report passes, try to resend the fax.
    • If the report fails with the message 'Fail - the phone line is not active,' plug the cable into a working telephone jack, and then try to resend the fax.
    • If the report fails with the message 'Fail - the cord is in the wrong port,' continue to 'Step two: Change the cable to the correct port.'
Step two: Change the cable to the correct port
Make sure the telephone cable is inserted in the correct port. Remove the cord for the fax line from the port labeled with a telephone, and then insert it into the correct port.

Scanner error message
The message 'Scanner error' displays on the product control panel while sending a fax.
Solution: Check paper size
This product only supports paper less than 381 mm (15 in). Use only letter, A4, or legal sized paper for sending faxes.
To send this fax, copy or print the original document onto shorter paper, and then resend.
No fax detected or No dial tone error message
The error message 'No fax detected' or 'No dial tone' displays on the product control panel while sending a fax.
 note:
This error does not always refer to a fax being missed. If a telephone call is made to a fax by mistake and the caller hangs up, the error on the display will read 'No fax detected.'
Solution one: Check telephone line connections
  1. Make sure the fax line is plugged into the wall telephone jack.
  2. Make sure the fax line and telephone wall jack are active by plugging in a telephone to the back of the product, and then checking for a dial tone.
Perform a fax line test to check whether the fax line is properly connected.

  1. Press the Setup button () on the product control panel.
  2. Use the Arrow keys () to select Service, select Fax Service, select Run Fax Test, and then press OK.
    The Fax Test prints.
    • If the report passes, try to resend the fax.

Storing page 1
The message 'Storing page 1' displays on the product control panel while receiving a fax.
  1. Turn the product off, and then turn the product back on.
