HP Photosmart Premium C309 All-in-One Series - Cleaning the HP All-in-One

Introduction
Clean the product periodically to make sure that copies and scans remain clear and that product performance is not affected by dirt buildup.
Cleaning the HP All-in-One
Follow the steps in this document to clean different parts of the product. To skip to a specific step within the document, use the following links.
Cleaning the top side of the glass
  1. Press the Power button () to turn off the product.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Raise the lid.
  4. Clean the glass by using a soft, lint-free cloth, moistened with nonabrasive glass cleaner.
     caution:
    Use only glass cleaner to clean the scanner glass. Do not use cleaners that contain abrasives, acetone, benzene, or carbon tetrachloride, all of which can damage the scanner glass. Do not spray the glass cleaner directly on the glass.
  5. Clean the glass strip on the far left of the scan glass. This strip is for the ADF.
  6. Dry the glass with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth.
  7. Lower the lid.
  8. Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
  9. Press the Power button () to turn on the product.
Cleaning the lid backing
  1. Press the Power button () to turn off the product.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Raise the lid.
  4. Gently wipe the lid backing with a soft cloth or sponge, moistened with mild soap and warm water. Do not scrub the lid backing.

     caution:
    Do not use paper-based wipes because paper wipes might scratch the backing.
  5. If further cleaning is needed, gently wipe the backing with a soft cloth or sponge, moistened with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Wipe the backing thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any residual alcohol.
     caution:
    Be careful not to spill alcohol on the glass or painted parts of the product; it might cause damage.
  6. Lower the lid.
  7. Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
  8. Press the Power button () to turn on the product.
Cleaning the paper feed rollers
  1. Press the Power button () to turn off the product.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. To remove the rear access door, press the handle to the right, and then pull out the door.

  4. Wipe the paper rollers with a lint-free cloth which is lightly moistened with distilled or bottled water.
    Manually rotate the rollers to clean rollers all the way around.

  5. Allow the rollers to dry completely.
  6. Replace the rear access door. Gently push the door toward the product until it snaps into place.
  7. Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
  8. Press the Power button () to turn on the product.
Cleaning the main paper tray
Use a soft, slightly moistened cloth to wipe dust and other debris from the main paper feeder tray.
 note:
Using a cotton swab will help clean areas of the tray that are difficult to reach.
  1. Press the Power button () to turn off the product.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Remove all paper from the main paper tray.
  4. Lift the photo tray lid and clean on and around the area, including the paper width guide, and then close the lid.

  5. Lift the main paper tray lid and clean on and around the area, including the paper width guide, and then close the lid.

  6. Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
  7. Press the Power button () to turn on the product.
Cleaning the Automatic Document Feeder
If the automatic document feeder picks up multiple pages or if it does not pick up plain paper, clean the rollers and the separator pad.
Cleaning the rollers and the separator pad
  1. Press the Power button () to turn off the product.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Remove all paper from the main paper tray.
  4. Lift the automatic document feeder cover. This provides easy access to the rollers and the separator pad.
  5. Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.
  6. Use the damp cloth to wipe any residue off the rollers and the separator pad.
  7. Close the cover of the automatic document feeder.
  8. Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
  9. Press the Power button () to turn on the product.
Cleaning the exterior
Use a soft cloth or slightly moistened sponge to wipe dust, smudges, and stains off the product exterior and case. The interior of the product does not require cleaning. Keep fluids away from the control panel and the interior of the product.
 caution:
Do not use alcohol or alcohol-based cleaning products, as they can damage to the exterior of the product.
