HP Notebook and Tablet PCs - Finding Warranty Information
This document pertains to all HP notebook and tablet PCs.
This document describes how to find warranty and support information for your computer.
The hardware warranty for HP and Compaq notebook and tablet computers varies depending on geographical region, country, and product model. You may find the expressly provided HP Limited Warranty applicable to your product with the electronic guides on your computer and/or on the CD/DVD provided in the box. Some countries/regions may provide a printed HP Limited Warranty in the box. To find warranty information for your computer, use the methods in this document.
Using HP Product Warranty Check
The HP Product Warranty Check site provides current warranty status, warranty category, and warranty end date, based on the serial number and product number.
Using Internet Explorer or Google Chrome web browser, go to the Check Your Product Warranty webpage.
note:This page might not display properly in other browsers.
On the form, select your country, enter your serial number (s/n) and product number (p/n), and then click Submit.
The warranty information is displayed on the browser. If your computer is still under warranty, a list of online support options displays below the warranty information.Figure : HP Product Warranty Check status results
Using HP Support Assistant
You can use HP Support Assistant to find warranty information about your computer.
note:Before using the HP Support Assistant, be sure you are using the latest version. If you do not have the latest version, or you are experiencing problems with HP Support Assistant, Download and install the latest version of HP Support Assistant (Windows) or update the HP Support Assistant Android app in Google Play.
Checking HP Support Assistant in Windows
In Windows, search for and open HP Support Assistant.
On the HP Support Assistant Home page, click My computer.Figure : My computer
On the My computer window, select the Waranty and services tab.
Select your desired privacy option (example: Yes, I agree to send this data whenever HP Support Assistant checks my Warranty status (recommended)), and then click Check warranty now.Figure : Check warranty now in HP Support Assistant

Checking HP Support Assistant in Android
On the HP Support Assistant app home screen, tap Warranty and Service Contracts to find your warranty information.

If HP Support Assistant does not come preinstalled on your tablet, search the Google Play Store for HP Support Assistant, and download and install the app if available.
note:HP Support Assistant might not be available for all versions of Android operating system or all HP devices running Android.
Finding warranty information for business notebooks and tablets
For business model notebooks (for example ProBook or ElitePad), use one of the methods in this section to obtain warranty information.
You might find the HP Limited Warranty applicable to your product located with the electronic guides on your computer, and/or on the CD/DVD provided in the box.
Use the steps in one of the following sections to locate the warranty information on your computer:
note:The warranty information might not be available on the computer if the original operating system and software has been changed.
Business computers running Windows 8 or later
In Windows, search for and open HP Documentation.
Click the HP Documentation icon in the upper left corner of the screen.
On the HP Documentation window, click View Warranty Information.Figure : View Warranty InformationA PDF with warranty information opens.Figure : Example of HP warranty documentThe warranty information is also available though HP Support Assistant by clicking My computer, User guides, and then clicking View Warranty Information.
Business computers running Windows 7 or earlier
On computers and tablets running Windows 7 or earlier, use one of the following methods to open the warranty information:
Click Start , click HP, and then click Documentation.
Click Start , and then click Help and Support.
Click the HP Support Assistant icon on the desktop, select Learn, and then click User Guides.The User guides window contains the warranty information as well as the manuals for the computer.
