HP Document Viewer Overview

Introduction
Use HP Document Viewer to view any type of file, scan, fax, e-mail, print, and convert documents to editable text. This document describes the basic functions provided in HP Document Viewer.
This document applies to the following all-in-one products:
  • HP Photosmart 2575, 2575a, 2575v, 2575xi, and 2578
  • HP Photosmart 2605, 2608, 2610, 2610v, 2610xi, 2613, and 2615
  • HP Photosmart 2710, 2710xi, and 2713
  • HP Photosmart 3108, 3110, and 3110v
  • HP Photosmart 3207, 3210, 3210a, 3210v, 3210xi, 3213, and 3214
  • HP Photosmart 3308, 3310, 3310xi, 3313, and 3314
  • HP Officejet 6200, 6203, 6205, 6208, 6210, 6210v, 6210xi, 6213, and 6215
  • HP Officejet 7205, 7208, 7210, 7210v, 7210xi, 7213, and 7215

View mode
The view mode buttons allow you to switch between a thumbnail view of all images in a folder and single-image view.

 note:
The Print button is the only button that is available to use in single-image view mode. You must be in thumbnail view mode to use any of the other buttons in HP Document Viewer.
Overview of buttons
The following table describes the buttons available in HP Document Viewer.

How to Use the Button
Scan document
Scans pictures, graphics, documents, or objects.
  1. Place the original document face down on the scanner glass and then close the lid.
  2. Click the Scan button.
  3. Under What are you scanning? click Document.
  4. Select your scanning options.
  5. Click Scan.
  6. Click Done.
Convert document to editable text
Converts documents that have been saved as .tiff or .jpg files to editable text.
  1. In the Folder View pane on the HP Document Viewer window, select the file you want to convert to editable text.
  2. Click the Convert document to editable text button. A list of compatible word processing applications displays.
  3. Select the word processing application you want your document converted to and click OK.
E-mail document
Opens your default e-mail application to a blank e-mail message with the scanned images attached.
 note:
You must have a local e-mail program installed to use this button. This button will not work for web-based e-mail.
  1. In the Folder View pane on the HP Document Viewer window, select the images you want to send in an e-mail.
  2. Click the E-mail document button.
  3. Choose if you want to send the images in the original file format or convert the files to .pdf format.
  4. Use your default e-mail application to complete and send the e-mail with your scanned image attached.
Fax document
Faxes the selected document using the Fax from computer feature.
  1. In the Folder View pane on the HP Document Viewer window, select the file you want to fax.
  2. Click the Fax document button.
  3. On the Select Fax Destination dialog box, select the type of fax you want to send.
  4. On the Send Fax dialog box, type the required information.
  5. Click Send Fax.
Send file in a different application
Opens a file in a different application.
  1. In the Folder View pane on the HP Document Viewer window, select the files you want to open in a different application.
  2. Click the Send file in a different application button.
  3. On the Send to dialog box, select the application you want to use to open the selected files.
  4. Click OK.
Print document
Prints the selected files.
  1. In the Folder View pane on the HP Document Viewer window, select the files you want to print.
  2. Click the Print document button.
  3. Click Print.
Preferences
Saves the preferences for HP Document Viewer. Preferences that can be set include thumbnail performance, display warnings, and the language used for optical character recognition (OCR).
Click the Preferences button.
Help
Provides additional information about HP Document Viewer.
Click the Help button.
