Printer Specifications for HP PSC 500 Printer Series

Introduction
The HP Printer-Scanner-Copier 500 series was designed for the home market to provide excellent print quality, a high quality flatbed scanner, and a color copy machine all in one space-saving package. There were changes to newer units of this model's software, firmware and warranty. These changes cannot be added to older PSC 500 units. The enhancements are noted below indicating the change from older units.
As of 1 Apr 2001 the HP PSC 500 is being phased out and has been replaced by the HP PSC 750. HP PSC 500 availability is subject to remaining stock on hand. Until the supply is exhausted, the HP PSC 500 (see Figure 1) can be purchased online from HP. Click here to visit the shopping Web site.

Software
The HP Printer-Scanner-Copier 500 product has software for Windows 95, 98, Millennium Edition and NT 4.0 in the box. Windows 2000 was not released before this product was available. The HP Scan Viewer software is required for Windows 2000 functionality. Visit the PSC 500 product support homepage and then click Software and Driver Downloads.
 note:
Do not use the software disk that shipped with the PSC 500 to install the print drivers in Windows 2000. Windows 2000 customers must download and install the HP Windows 2000 scan viewer software from the HP driver Web site to achieve scanning and printing functionality. Do not connect the unit prior to performing this step.
Prior to upgrading from another operating system to Windows 2000, it is important that any existing HP Printer-Scanner-Copier 500 software be uninstalled. Uninstall the software using Add/Remove Software in the Windows Control Panel and disconnect the parallel cable. Download and install the HP scan viewer software prior to connecting the unit. Failure to remove the software or load the drivers correctly will result in an inability to scan.
Serial number location
A label with the serial number and a bar code are located on the back of the unit towards the left.
