HP Designjet 600 Series Printers - Plot File Terminators

Issue:
Function of plot file terminators on the HP Designjet 600 and 650C printers.
Solution
Plot file terminators indicate to the printer that the plot data is complete. The end of plot is determined by the parser and varies for each language:
HP-GL/2
PG; or EscE
HP-GL
PG; AF; AH; and when PRINTER SETUP/LANGUAGE/7586B, HPGL/2/Terminator= SPECIAL, SP; SP0; or a timeout specified under the same menu.
RTL
Esc%#B and then PG;
PostScript (TM)
End of PostScript Job, usually Ctrl-D or a timeout specified for the PostScript Job
If the language is set for HP-GL/2 and the parser is active (Receiving Data), the printer will Never timeout without a valid HP-GL/2 terminator. In addition, language switching will occur only when a valid HP-GL/2 terminator occurs.
The HP Designjet 650C printer will hold the current I/O port (650C), and the parser will remain active (in HP-GL/2), if the data stream contains spurious characters (i.e. spaces or NULL characters).
You can echo a terminator to the printer from the DOS prompt to "free it up" or complete the plot. The following is an example of an HP-GL or HP-GL/2 terminator echoed to a printer on LPT1, the parallel port:
ECHO PG;>LPT1
