JetSend for Pocket PC - Advanced Troubleshooting

This document provides tips and related information for advanced troubleshooting issues that may arise while using JetSend for Pocket PC.
  • Check the Readme file and troubleshooting section in your User's Guide for common issues and solutions.
  • Check to see if the problem goes away when trying to communicate with another, similar device.
  • Determine if the problem is with the sending or receiving device by checking to see if the problem occurs while sending or receiving.
  • If the problem is common to both sender and receiver ensure that the infrared transport is not the cause of the problem by verifying that the infrared protocol is loaded, enabled, and functional on each of the devices attempting to communicate. Check your hardware device manual for details.
  • If you are using an IR device, ensure that:
    • The two devices are within one meter (3 feet) of each other but no closer than 5.08 centimeters (2 inches).
    • The infrared ports of the two devices are lined up within a 30-degree angle of each other.
    • There are no obstacles between the infrared ports of the devices.
  • Reduce the ambient lighting and reflections.
  • Ensure the hardware and software on both the sending and receiving devices operates normally. For example, if one of the devices is a printer, test the printer by conducting a printer Self-test. If the other device is a handheld PC, see if software applications other than JetSend for Pocket PC operate normally.
  • Find out the JetSend for Pocket PC software version number and receiving device firmware number and note it.
  • Uninstall JetSend for Pocket PC software, reboot, and verify that the device works normally.
  • Install the latest version of JetSend for Pocket PC software and reboot.
  • Check the user documentation and databases for additional problem areas.
  • If the problem is isolated to the JetSend for Pocket PC software and cannot be resolved, contact HP via JetSend for Pocket PC Online Support.
  • If the problem is with third party or non-JetSend software (not HP software), contact that company's help desk.
