JetSend for Pocket PC - Usage, Frequently Asked Questions

Introduction
This document provides answers to some general questions about JetSend for Pocket PC.
How do I install JetSend for Pocket PC?
  1. Download the JetSend for Pocket PC software setup program from the JetSend Web site to your desktop computer. Click here to download JetSend for Pocket PC software.
  2. Establish a connection between the mobile device and the desktop PC.
  3. Turn the mobile device on.
  4. Save all work.
  5. Quit all programs. Uninstall any previous version of JetSend for Pocket PC software.
  6. On the desktop PC, click Start, then Run.
  7. Browse and select JetSend for Pocket PC Setup.
  8. Click OK to start the installation.
  9. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  10. Click Finish when the JetSend for Pocket PC setup program has completed. You do not need to reboot the desktop PC or mobile device.
How do I uninstall JetSend for Pocket PC?
  1. Click Start, Settings, System, and then Remove Programs.
  2. Select JetSend for Pocket PC Devices.
  3. Select Remove, and then select Yes to confirm.
  4. Select OK to close the Remove Program Properties dialog box.
How do I send a message?
You can send documents and images by network or infrared by simply dragging the file to the corresponding icon in the JetSend Exchanger window.
  1. Click Start, Programs, JetSend, and then Exchanger. The JetSend Exchanger folder appears.
     note:
    If the document or image you want to send is not in the JetSend Exchanger folder, use the import procedure to move it to this folder.
  2. Make sure that the receiving device is turned on and ready to accept your transfer. Infrared users: set up an infrared connection between your mobile device and the receiving device. Network users: make sure your mobile device is connected to the network.
  3. Select the file you want to transfer and drag-and-drop the file onto the appropriate JetSend Exchanger service icon on the right side of the screen.
  4. When the transfer is complete, check the receiving device to verify that the transfer took place.
How do I receive a message using JetSend?
You can receive documents and images from a variety of JetSend-enabled devices by following the steps below.
  1. On your mobile device, click Start, Programs, JetSend, and then Exchanger. The JetSend Exchanger folder appears.
  2. Click the R icon at the top of the screen to place your device in receive mode. During receive mode, the device listens to all available transports for any incoming JetSend activity.
  3. On the sending device, start the transfer.
  4. When the transfer is complete, verify on your mobile device that the document or image arrived in the JetSend Exchanger or designated folder.
Where would I find JetSend messages sent by my colleagues?
By default, received JetSend images and text files go to My Documents folder. However, the destination default can be set to another folder. In cases where the sending device is using Program Information Management (PIM) information and the receiving device is also using PIM information, the messages go to its corresponding application (for example, an appointment into calendar).
How can I change the received message folder?
  1. Click Start, Programs, JetSend, Exchanger, File, Preferences, and then General.
  2. Use the Browse button to locate and select the new folder for receiving messages.
  3. Select OK.
How can I tell if I have received a message?
Visual notification can be set to alert you of an incoming message. To do so in the Exchanger, go to File, Preferences, and set the Receive tab to prompt for action.
How can I import messages into the JetSend folder?
Files must be imported to the JetSend folder before you can send them to other JetSend-enabled devices. Once located in the JetSend folder, a file can be sent using any of the JetSend services shown on the right side of the window (such as network or infrared).
  1. Click Start, Programs, JetSend, and then Exchanger. Select File, and then Import.
  2. Locate the file you want to import and then select it.
  3. Select OK.
  4. The file appears in the JetSend Exchanger folder.
How do I export files from the JetSend folder to other locations on my mobile device?
Exporting is the method used to move a file from the JetSend Exchanger folder to other locations on your Mobile device.
  1. Click Start, Programs, JetSend, and then Exchanger.
  2. In the Exchanger folder, select the file you want to move.
  3. Select File and then Export.
  4. Select the destination folder.
  5. Select OK.
  6. Use the JetSend Viewer to verify that the file was moved properly.
How do I convert JetSend documents and images to other formats?
You can convert a file in any of the image formats supported by JetSend into any other supported image format (except .GIF).
  1. Click Start, Programs, JetSend, and then Viewer. The JetSend Viewer opens.
  2. Select File, then Open, and open the file to be converted.
  3. Select File and then Save As.
  4. Select the location and file format you want.
  5. Select OK.
     note:
    .GIF files may be converted to other image file formats, however, other image file formats may not be converted to .GIF.
How do I send Appointments and Tasks using JetSend for Pocket PC?
You can share Calendar information (appointments and tasks) on your mobile device with other JetSend-enabled devices. One or more appointments or tasks can be sent or received at a time. In order to do so, follow the steps below:
  1. Click Start, Programs, Pocket Outlook, and then Calendar or Tasks.
  2. Select Tools, then JetSend Calendar or JetSend Task.
  3. Select the Recipient, the Start and End dates if applicable, and then press Send.
  4. On the receiving device, verify that the transfer took place.
How do I send Contacts using JetSend for Pocket PC?
You can share Contact information on your mobile device with other JetSend-enabled devices. More than one Contact can be sent or received at one time.
  1. Click Start, Programs, Pocket Outlook, and then Contacts.
  2. Select Tools, then JetSend Contacts.
  3. Select the Recipient and press Send.
  4. On the receiving device, verify the transfer took place.
How do I set to Auto Receive using JetSend for Pocket PC?
For setting JetSend Exchanger to Receive mode at start up, follow the steps below:
  1. Click Start, Programs, JetSend, and then Exchanger.
  2. Select File, then Preferences.
  3. Check the box next to “Automatically receive when JetSend Exchanger is launched” and press OK.
  4. Close Exchanger and click Start, Programs, JetSend, and then Exchanger.
This will result in the JetSend Exchanger being launched in Receive Mode to listen for incoming jobs on all transports. Repeat procedure 1-4 to reactivate if needed, or you can receive documents and images from a variety of JetSend-enabled devices by following the steps below:
  1. On your mobile device, click Start, Programs, JetSend, and Exchanger. The JetSend Exchanger folder appears.
  2. Click the R icon at the top of the screen to place your device in receive mode. During receive mode, the device listens to all available transports for any incoming JetSend activity.
  3. On the sending device, start the transfer.

How do I find the IP address of my Pocket PC device?
Click Start, Programs, JetSend, Exchanger, Tools, and choose “Display my IP address.”
Does the JetSend device that I want to send a message to have to be turned on?
Yes, since there is currently no store and forward capability, you must have the receiving device turned on in order to make a connection.
I can only see a part of a document in the JetSend viewer, how do I change the settings so that I can view the whole document?
On the top menu bar of your received message choose View, Zoom, and then Fit to Window.
