HP Color LaserJet 4600, 5500 and 5550 Series Printers - Blank Display on Control Panel

Use the following table as a troubleshooting guide if the printer’s control panel does not display a message:
Cause
Solution
The printer’s On/Off button is in the standby position.
Verify that the printer is on. Fans may run while the printer is in standby mode (off).
The printer’s memory modules (DIMMs) are defective or installed incorrectly.
Verify that the printer’s memory modules (DIMMs) are correctly installed and are not defective.
The power cord is not firmly plugged into both the printer and the power receptacle.
Turn off the printer, and then disconnect and reconnect the power cord. Turn the printer back on.
The line voltage is incorrect for the printer power configuration.
Connect the printer to a proper voltage source, as specified on the Power Rating label on the back of the printer.
The power cord is damaged or excessively worn.
Replace the power cord.
The power source receptacle is not working correctly.
Connect the printer to a different power receptacle.
The Control Panel or a Memory Failure is defective.
Print blindly. Print using the Control Panel buttons.
 note:
  • For CLJ4650 or CLJ5550, to print Menu map, push checkmark button , down arrow, checkmark and then checkmark again. This proves the Printer Engine and Logical Boards are good and the Control Panels is faulty.
  • For CLJ4600/4610 and 5500 the factory defaults will require a different combination. Push checkmark, down arrow 3 times, then checkmark 2 times. If the Control Panel is defective and the Logical boards and Engine are fine the printer will process a Diagnostics page and the part that needs to be replaced is the Control Panel Assembly.
