HP LaserJet 9000, 9040mfp, and 9050mfp Series Printers - PJL Commands for Configuring the HP 3000 Sheet Stacker/Stapler and Stacker

Issue:
Configuring the 3000 sheet Stacker/Stapler (C8085A) and Stacker (C8084A) with PJL commands. PJL commands can be sent to the printer to enable specific functionality to a particular paper-handling device. These commands can be sent to the printer on a "job by job" command basis.
Solution
The PJL commands listed below will set the functionality of the HP 3000 sheet Stacker/Stapler and/or the HP 3000 sheet Stacker on a "job by job" basis.
Also contained in this document are PCL commands for tray selection.
 note:
More information regarding creation and use of PJL commands can be found on the Technical Reference Bundle CD-ROM. Click here for information on how to obtain the CD-ROM.
MS-DOS Command Prompt and MS-DOS Editor windows
To open a MS-DOS Command Prompt window:
  • Go to Start, Programs, and Accessories
  • Select Command Prompt. A command prompt window will open. (See Figure 1 below)
  • Type in EDIT and press ENTER.
  • This will open the editor window. (See Figure 2 below)
To create the escape sequence (Ec) in the MS-DOS Editor:
  • Press and hold down the CTRL key and press the "p" key.
  • Release both keys.
  • Press the ESC key. The editor will insert an arrow symbol pointing to the left.
  • Type the rest of the command after the symbol. (See sample in Figure 2)

Sending the file to the printer
  • Save the PJL command and name it before sending to the printer.
  • Send the file to the printer by typing "Copy [filename] [printer port]" at the MS-DOS (R) prompt. Example: C:\Copy_filename.txt LPT1;
