HP Color LaserJet and LaserJet Printers - Microsoft Windows XP Installation Instructions for Microsoft Drivers
Information about the Microsoft Windows XP Solution
HP worked closely with Microsoft to prepare for the release of Windows XP and to optimize printing capability for HP LaserJet series printers. The drivers that ship with the Windows XP operating system represent this joint effort between Microsoft and HP for providing enhanced printing support through the inbox PostScript®) and PCL drivers.
Specifically, these inbox drivers use the Microsoft unidriver and PostScript driver architectures with HP additions for enhanced functionality. When these drivers are included on the operating system CD, they can be installed using the Add Printer Wizard feature of the operating system or through Plug and Play (where applicable).
Although HP worked to provide comparable functionality with the Windows XP drivers, some features may not be available via the inbox driver.
Click here to go to the HP Drivers and Downloads search page. Select Download drivers and software (and firmware), type in your product name or model number and clickEnter. From this web page, click on the desired operating system link to view any available drivers and software for your product. This is the quickest way to find the most current Windows XP drivers for your HP product.
It is important to understand that HP does not offer Windows XP drivers for every model. If there is not a Windows XP HP driver available on the web after searching from the HP Drivers and Downloads search page then the only option is to install a Microsoft driver that shipped "in-box" with the Windows XP operating system.
