HP 9S Calculator - Error Messages
This document explains the error messages that are displayed on the HP 9S calculator.
General overflow and error conditions
The symbol E appearing in the display indicates any one of the following conditions has occurred:
There was an attempt to perform a function calculation with a number outside the allowable input range.
There was an attempt to divide a number by zero.
The opening parenthesis [(] key was pressed more than 15 times in one expression.
A result (either intermediate or final) or the accumulated total in memory is outside the range of 9.999999999 × 1099.
There are more than six pending operations.Clear the error message by pressing ON/C.
Statistics mode error conditions
The indicator FULL appears when any of the following conditions has occurred:
An attempt was made to enter more than 80 data items.
The number of occurrences of any particular data value is greater than 255.
The product of the number of data items and the number of occurrences is greater than 20400.With the FULL error showing, further data entry is not possible. Press any key to clear the indicator. If remaining in statistics mode, previously entered data entries will not be affected.
An attempt to delete a value that is not in the dataset will cause the dEL Error to appear on the display of the calculator.
Press any key to clear the message. The display will be cleared and will display a value of 0. Existing data will not be affected.
