HP Jornada PDA - Synchronizing with a Desktop PC Across a Network
This document describes how to synchronize your HP Jornada Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) with your desktop PC across a network. Once connected, you can transfer files and synchronize Pocket Outlook data and e-mail messages remotely with your desktop PC just as if you were connected using a sync cable or a docking cradle.
Before beginning, you must:
Find and install a network card on your Jornada. Visit Microsoft’s(R) hardware Enterprise Solution Web site and select Ethernet cards (or another Ethernet option) from the Hardware Solutions category drop-down menu, then click Search for a list of compatible network cards.
note:HP recommends using the most current version of ActiveSync to connect the PDA to a desktop PC. Click here to go to the Microsoft ActiveSync download page to get the latest version of ActiveSync.
Setting up synchronization across a network
The Help tool in Microsoft ActiveSync walks through the process of setting up a connection across a network. ActiveSync should already be installed on the desktop or laptop PC before beginning the following steps:
On the desktop or laptop PC, open Microsoft ActiveSync.
Click Help and select Microsoft ActiveSync Help.
Double-click Connect a mobile device to a desktop computer.
Double-click Connect to ActiveSync using a network (Ethernet) card.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Troubleshooting the connection
If the connection does not work after following the instructions above, check the help files located in ActiveSync.
