HP Jornada 600 or 700 Series - HP Viewer Will Not Open: Hourglass Just Spins

Issue
After trying to open HP Viewer on an HP Jornada 600 or 700 series handheld PC, an hourglass spins and the device stops responding to taps or keystrokes. When HP View opens up, it attempts to create calendars for all scheduled events. HP View sees recurring events as non-ending and tries to create monthly calendars for an infinite period of time.
Solution
Perform a soft reset on the device to turn off all running programs, including HP Viewer. Then edit all recurring appointments on the desktop using the steps provided below before reopening HP Viewer:
Editing recurring appointments in Microsoft (R) Outlook 97, 98, or 2000
Complete the following steps on the desktop PC:
  1. Open the Calendar in Outlook.
  2. Click on View, Current View, and Recurring Appointments. You will see a list of all of the Recurring Appointments in your calendar. On the right is a column labeled Recurrence Range End.
  3. Edit any appointment in the list with an end date greater than five years from the current date. No recurring appointment should extend for more than 5 years. To edit an appointment, complete the following steps:
    1. Double-click the repeated appointment.
    2. Click Recurrence.
    3. Under Range of Recurrence, complete the End by field with a date less than five years from the current date.
    4. Click OK.
  4. Resynchronize the device and desktop.
Editing recurring appointments in Microsoft Schedule+ 7.0a or 7.5
Complete the following steps on the desktop PC:
  1. Open your Calendar in Schedule+.
  2. Click Edit, Edit Recurring, and then Appointments. A list of all of the recurring appointments in the calendar displays.
  3. Edit any appointment in the list that has an end date greater than five years from the current date. No recurring appointment should extend for more than 5 years. To edit an appointment, complete the following steps:
    1. Select the repeated appointment.
    2. Click Edit.
    3. Click the When tab.
    4. In the Duration section, select the Until box (see Figure 1).
Figure : Selecting the Until box
    5. In the date field that appears after the Until box, enter a date less than 5 years from the current date.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Click Close.
  4. Resynchronize the device and desktop.
