HP Jornada 500 Series Pocket PC - Managing Power On The HP Jornada Pocket Camera

Introduction
This document describes features and settings that will prolong the battery life of the HP Jornada pocket PC when used with the HP Jornada Pocket Camera.
Conserving power
The HP Jornada Pocket Camera draws power from the HP Jornada. Take care to conserve power and to prevent the HP Jornada from running out of power. Typically, a fully charged HP Jornada will power the camera for up to 2 hours. To save power, the Jornada Pocket Camera will turn off (suspend) after a period of inactivity. The camera will suspend at the same time as the HP Jornada, depending on the options set in the Power control panel. For information on setting an HP Jornada to suspend after a period of inactivity, refer to the HP Jornada User’s Guide or online Help on the HP Jornada.
The HP Jornada Pocket Camera has two power-saving modes: standby and suspend.
Standby mode
In Standby mode, the Jornada Pocket Camera uses less power. It enters Standby mode after a preset period of inactivity (that is, when you have not tapped the touch screen or taken any pictures). When the camera is in Standby mode, the green LED ring on the camera blinks slowly.
Suspend mode
Setting the camera to suspend when not in use conserves power. In Suspend mode, the Jornada Pocket Camera is off and does not use any power. When the camera is in Suspend mode, the green LED ring on the camera is not lit, and the shutter button on the Jornada Pocket Camera does not respond to pressing. By default, the camera will not suspend; this option must be set as described below.

Setting other power-saving options
Disabling the LED ring on the camera and/or disabling sound playback features can save even more power.
