bFax is a third-party fax management software application for handheld PCs, which is PocketWord supported. It allows mobile users to send lists of documents to lists of recipients, and receive and re-send faxes.
HP 600LX Series Palmtop PCs - bFax Application
To send a fax, the fax/modem must be correctly inserted and connected to a live phone line. Although Dialing Locations are selected from within bFax, they are configured from within Control Panel on the HP Palmtop PC. The Dialing Locations "Home" and "Work" exist by default and can be modified. Different Dialing Locations can be defined to simplify complex fax management situations. For example, with Dialing Locations you can:
Control whether area codes are dialed.
Set "Home" Dialing Location to disable call waiting by automatically dialing a sequence before every fax number. For example, in the United States, this sequence is *70.
Set "Work" Dialing Location to reach an outside line by automatically dialing 9 before every fax number.
Create a new Dialing Location for faxing from an area code or country to which you travel regularly.
Create a new Dialing Location for each different calling card you use. To do this, create a Dialing Location -- named, for example, "Calling Card 1" that includes all the necessary access numbers and calling card information as part of the long distance dialing pattern. When you choose that Dialing Location within bFax, all long distance faxes will be sent using the information you have provided.
Setting Home/Work Dialing Locations
To select a dialing location:
From the Control Panel Options menu, choose Communications. The Dialing tab offers the following options:
Dial area code, even though it’s the same as mine.
Dial from a cellular phone. This is required for certain cellular phones that require the modem to be initialized before the cellular phone cable is attached.
Confirm these settings before dialing.
bFax Pro allows you to send as many documents as desired. Choose Add Document from the Fax menu, browse for the file to be sent, and choose Open to add it to the Document window. In the Document window, tap the document to be deleted. Then choose Delete from the Edit window.
bFax allows you to control the font (*.txt only), paragraph and margin (both *.txt or *.pwd only) settings by choosing Layout from the Options menu.
Choose Settings in the File menu to change font, paragraph, and margin formatting.
Zooming and Scrolling
The Previous Page button is disabled by default because it consumes a significant amount of system resources (about 120 KB per page). To enable it, choose Settings from the File menu, and tap on the check-box labeled "Allow previous page."
caution:Viewing longer faxes with the "Allow previous page" option enabled may cause low memory problems and error messages.
