HP 360LX and 340LX Palmtop PCs - What CPU Is Being Used?
ISSUE: Central unit used in the HP 360LX or 340LX Palmtop PC.
SOLUTION: The HP 360LX or 340LX Palmtop PC, as well as all other Windows CE products, is designed around a RISC chip. It is not an Intel design and there is no direct way to compare speed to a PC since the software is also different. If you are interested in the speed, you will have to try the product. There is no direct comparison to the PC world as we know it today.
The HP 360LX or 340LX Palmtop PC is using a Hitachi SH3 32-bit RISC CPU, running at 60 MHz. It is projected to run at about 1.5 times that of the HP 300 / 320LX Palmtop PC.
ISSUE: Battery life at higher processing speeds.
SOLUTION: The battery life is very much dependent on usage. In the current CE product market, the HP 300 / 320LX devices are leaders in power management, requiring very low power to operate. With the faster clock speed, the HP 360LX or 340LX Palmtop PC is expected to have higher power consumption. The exact battery life is not known at this point.
