ISSUE: When a Pocket Word document is translated to Word 97 format, the spell checker on Word 97 does not detect spelling errors in the document. This occurs even if the document was originally generated using Word 97, translated to Pocket Word, then back to Word 97.
SOLUTION: When attempting to spell check using Word 97, a message similar to the following is generated:
"The spelling and grammar check is complete. Text set to (no proofing) was skipped. To find (no proofing) text, choose Edit/Replace, choose More, choose Format, choose Language and choose (no proofing)."
As the message implies, the default settings for Pocket Word documents translated to Word 97 format is for the language to be "no proofing." To change the language and allow spell checking, do the following:
Select the entire document.
On the Tools menu, point to "Language," and then choose "SetLanguage."
In the "Mark selected text as" box, choose the language you want.
