HP Color Inkjet cp1700 Series Printer - Control Panel Menus, Front Panel Buttons, and Lights

Introduction
The front panel serves two primary purposes.
  1. It provides notification of the following:
    • Printer operations (printing, ready)
    • When user intervention is required (out of paper, replace printhead)
    • Component status (ink level status, print head health)
  2. The front panel is also used for printing test pages, pen cleaning and alignment.
    • This second purpose is achieved through unique key-press sequences. The printer front panel has an LCD display, two LEDs and three key buttons, which are the POWER, RESUME and CANCEL.
LCD panel and infrared lens
The liquid crystal display (LCD) panel consists of the LCD, which displays information about the current status of the printer, and buttons that can be used to perform basic printer operations. The infrared lens enables printing from an infrared sending device.

Description
POWER
The POWER button is a momentary pushbutton that is used to control the printer power. However, it acts as an input logic to the firmware when the power is on.
RESUME
This momentary pushbutton is context sensitive. Depending on the state of the printer, pressing the RESUME button has a different effect on the printer. If a media related condition, such as out of paper, has occurred, pressing this button will cause the printer to resume the print operation. Together with the POWER button, the RESUME button can be used to invoke an internal page or printhead related functions.
CANCEL
A momentary pushbutton used to cancel the current print job. After the CANCEL button is pressed, the printer will eject the current page, clear the buffer, and prepare for a new print job.
LEDs
There are two LEDs or lights on the printer:
Power LED
  • Solid green - the printer is turned on.
  • Blinking green - the printer is initializing, canceling a job, or turning off.
Resume LED
  • Blinking - the printer requires user intervention.
Front panel display states
The five display states are:
  • Normal operation
  • Warning display
  • User intervention
  • Unrecoverable error
  • Special display
