HP Business Inkjet 2200, and 2250 Series Printer - Memory Usage Overview
How is the memory utilized in the HP Business Inkjet 2200, and 2250 series printers?
The printer language (personality) determines how memory is utilized. High Performance Architecture (HPA) printer language uses 8 megabytes (MB) of built-in RAM and cannot use additional RAM. PostScript (R) and PCL 5C printer languages use 16 MB of RAM that comes standard on the PostScript/PCL 5C personality card. The sections below provide more detail on memory usage.
HP Business Inkjet 2200 series printers
The HP Business Inkjet 2200 series printers come standard with 8 MB of built-in RAM and HPA printer language. The HPA printer language processes one line of information from the computer at a time and accesses only the 8 MB of built-in RAM. Additional memory is not required or even possible because there is no provision to add more memory unless the PostScript/PCL 5C personality card is installed.
HP Business Inkjet 2250 series printers
The HP Business Inkjet 2250 series printer come standard with 8 MB of built-in RAM (used only when printing with the HPA printer language) plus another 16 MB of RAM on the PostScript/PCL 5C personality card for a total of 24 MB of RAM. PostScript and PCL 5C printer languages require more memory because an entire page of information is processed at once. An optional 64 MB SDRAM memory module (part number 1818-8505) can be installed on the PostScript/PCL 5C personality card for a total of 88 MB of RAM. Adding memory to the printer will allow the printer to process more complex PostScript and PCL 5C jobs, but it may not necessarily increase processing speed.
note:The PostScript/PCL 5C personality card comes standard with the HP Business Inkjet 2250 series printers. The PostScript/PCL 5C Upgrade Kit, C5935A, can be purchased as an accessory for the HP Business Inkjet 2200 series printers and is available at the HP Business Store.
