HP Deskjet 350 Series Printer - Using the Portable Sheet Feeder

Overview
The HP Deskjet 350 series printer ships with a 30-page portable sheet feeder designed to automatically feed paper into the printer. The sheet feeder is designed to hold up to 30 sheets of 60 g/m2 (16 lb) paper. This document provides instructions for attaching and using the Portable Sheet Feeder.
Setup the Portable Sheet Feeder
The following steps may be used to attach the Portable Sheet Feeder to the back of the printer.
  1. Insert the two catches (hooks) near the bottom of the sheet feeder into the corresponding slots located on the back of the printer.

  2. Rotate the top edge of the sheet feeder toward the printer and press the two units together. There should be a click when the sheet feeder latches onto the back of the printer.

     note:
    If needed, press the sheet feeder's release button located at the top of the feeder to allow the printer and sheet feeder to come together.
  3. Use the recess at the top center of the sheet feeder to pull the unit fully open.

  4. Rotate each of the paper support arms until both are pointing upwards.

  5. Push the paper release lever down to the open position and slide the paper-width adjustment guide to the side of the sheet feeder.

Loading paper
Use the following guidelines when loading paper:
  • Load paper with the side to be printed on, face up.
  • Use only one type of paper at a time.
  • The number of sheets that you should load depends on the weight of the paper. The following table provides a guideline for how many sheets to load depending upon the weight of the paper.

Follow the steps below to load paper in the sheet feeder:
  1. Press the paper release lever down to the open position. See Figure 6.
  2. Insert 3 to 4 sheets of paper and adjust the paper-width adjustment guide against the paper. See Figure 6.
  3. Press the paper release lever up to tighten the rollers against the paper.
  4. Print a test page.
  5. If the test page prints successfully, open the paper release lever and insert the remaining paper stack between the paper already in the sheet feeder.
  6. Close the paper release lever and print as required.
