HP Photo Quality Inkjet Paper, Two-Sided, Semi-Gloss - Ink Smears on Paper

Introduction
The ink smears or smudges when printing on HP Photo Quality Inkjet Paper, Two-Sided, Semi-Gloss Paper may be caused by one of the following:
  • Ink does not dry due to the fast speeds of the newer HP Deskjet printers.
  • With the HP Deskjet 600 series printers (except the HP Deskjet 610 printer), black ink may streak and smear. The glossy paper will show this more than plain paper, especially when printing multiple copies.
  • Rubbing or touching the ink before it is dry.
  • Printing large areas of black ink.
Instructions
Try one of the following to prevent ink smears or smudges.
  • For the HP Deskjet 600 series printers (except the HP Deskjet 610 printer), use the ink cartridge cleaning recommendations for black ink smearing and streaking. For cleaning recommendations, click here to go to the document titled: How to Clean Your Printer to Prevent Black Ink Streaks.
  • Do not rub the ink before it is dry and do not get the ink wet.
  • Minimize the use of large areas of black.
