HP 2000C Series Printers and HP DeskJet 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000, 1100, and 1120C Series Printers - How to Print Black Only Instead of Grayscale from AutoCAD for Windows and AutoCAD LT

Issue:
Is there a way to print everything in only black (instead of grayscale) on an HP 2000C printer or HP DeskJet 600, 800, 1000, 1100, or 1120 series printer using AutoCAD release 13 for Windows and AutoCAD LT?
Solution
All the pen assignments within AutoCAD can be changed to the black pen. This will cause all the lines to be drawn using only black. To resume printing color again, all the pen assignments would have to be changed back to the color pens.
DETAILS: The following steps may be used to change the pen assignments within AutoCAD to black. Steps are also provided for changing the pen assignments back to the color.
To print only black
Change the pen assignments to use the black pen.
  1. From the main AutoCAD window, select File and Print.
  2. In the Plot Configuration window, select the Pen Assignments button.
  3. In the Pen Assignments window, highlight the Color numbers that are being used in the drawing that need to be printed as black. For example, highlight numbers 1 through 11 in the Color column.
  4. In the Pen box on the right side of the window, type the number 7 and press ENTER. The values in the Pen No. column should all change to 7.
  5. Select OK in the Pen Assignments window.
  6. Select OK in the Plot Configuration window to print the drawing. The drawing should now print in black instead of grayscale.
 note:
When all the colors are assigned the same Pen No., all the lines will be assigned the same weight (width). To assign different weights for each color, the pen assignments for the colors must be different.
 note:
For further assistance changing the Pen Assignments within AutoCAD, contact the AutoCAD dealer or refer to the AutoCAD user's manual.
To print using color again
Change the Pen Assignments back to their previous settings by using the following steps.
  1. From the main AutoCAD window, select File and Print.
  2. In the Plot Configuration window, select the Pen Assignments button.
  3. In the Pen Assignments window, highlight a Color number that has a Pen No. value of 7.
  4. In the Pen box on the right side of the window, type the same number that corresponds to the Color number selected and press ENTER. For example, if Color number 4 is highlighted, type 4 in the Pen box on the right side of the window and press ENTER.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until each Pen No. value corresponds to the Color number.
  6. Select OK in the Pen Assignments window.
  7. Select OK in the Plot Configuration window to print the drawing. The drawing should now print in color.
 note:
For further assistance changing the Pen Assignments within AutoCAD, contact the AutoCAD dealer or refer to the AutoCAD user's manual.
