Printer components

Ensure the following components are in the shipping container, stand assembly box, and end packing pieces:

Unpacking the components

note:
To move the Shipping Container, use the eight handles provided on the box. Four or more people should perform this procedure.
  1. Before unpacking the printer, ensure at least 3 meters (9 feet) of space is available in front of the shipping container.
  2. Remove the two packing straps and plastic handles from both sides of the container.

  3. Remove the Outer Sleeve from the container, then remove the end packing pieces, accessory boxes, and stand box.

  4. Remove the plastic handles from both sides of the container.

  5. Remove the inner sleeve from the container, then the two packing pieces.

  6. Remove the base tray and the protective plastic covering.

    note:
    The bas tray appearance may differ from the illustration.
  7. Unpack the stand components from the stand box.

    1. Anti-slip material
      caution:
    Do not remove the anti-slip material from the feet.

Assemble the printer stand

note:
Assemble all the Stand Components on a flat surface.
  1. Attach the legs to the cross brace.

  2. Attach the media-bin support to the legs with four screws (two people should perform this step).

  3. Install four screws into the legs (two screws into each leg).

  4. Carefully clip the feet onto the base tray.

  5. Position the feet onto the leg assembly, and secure the feet to the legs with 6 screws.

    1. Anti-slip material
      caution:
    Do not remove the anti-slip material.

  6. Some screws may have come loose during assembly (verify all screws are fully tightened).

Unpack the printer

  1. Remove the end packing supplements.

  2. Pull down the two flaps on the side of the container (with the corrugated edges).

  3. Slide the printer to the side of the container with the flaps turned down, and carefully roll the printer out.
      warning:
    The printer is heavy and requires two people to perform this step.

  4. Gently pull aside the protective plastic covering, put the stand assembly onto the printer, then secure it with four screws.

      warning:
    The printer is heavy and requires two people to perform the next step.
  5. Carefully lay the printer on its side, and then lift the printer into the upright position (two people should perform this step).

  6. Remove the end packing and the plastic covering from the printer.

  7. Tear off the anti-slip material from the wheels (the printer does not need to be lifted to perform this step).

  8. Remove the two packing straps and the silicon bag, then remove the protective covering from the printer window.

  9. Open the window and remove the Carriage packing piece.

  10. Remove the two white arrows (pull the arrow towards you, and remove it from the printer).

Assemble the printer

note:
Steps 1 and 2 below are for the Designjet 1000 series "A" models only (C6074A, C6075A). Continue with Step 3 if the printer is a "B" model (C6074B, C6075B).
  1. Unpack the three media guides (removed earlier from the end packing pieces).
  2. Snap the media guides into position on the back of the printer.

  3. From the back of the printer insert the six media-bin arms, and secure the arms to the cross brace with six retaining clips.

  4. Secure the arms to the media-bin support with six retaining clips.

  5. Push together the media-bin capping strips (2), enclosing the media-bin arms.

  6. Attach the front panel overlay to the front panel. Ensure that the cutouts on the overlay are correctly positioned on the front panel locating tabs.

  7. Remove the two media rolls from the shipping container.

  8. The printer is now assembled.
