HP IP/IPX Printer Gateway - Discontinued, Unable to Locate Printer Driver Files to Load into the NDPS Broker Resource Management Service
User is unable to select the .INF files of the printer driver in order to load them into the NDPS Broker RMS (Resource Management Service). The drivers for the HP Color LaserJet 5500ps, Color LaserJet 2500, LaserJet 4600, LaserJet 2200, LaserJet 4200, and the LaserJet 4300 series printers may exhibit this problem. NetWare 6 support pack 2
Support Pack 1 for the NT/2000/XP v 4.83 client
Support pack 1 for Win9x v 3.32 client
note:HP has a strong commitment to provide support for Novell products. With this commitment in mind, HP has been providing the HP IP/IPX Printer Gateway for NDPS (HP Gateway) to enable printing on Novell networks. However, after careful testing and evaluation, HP believes that the Novell SNMP Printer Gateway (Novell Gateway) is the preferred solution for enabling printing on Novell networks. Therefore, the HP Gateway product has been discontinued as of January 1, 2005.Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Novell Gateway as soon as possible. For information about migrating to the Novell Gateway, click here to go to the Novell support Web site. Search for NDPS Printer Agent Conversion Utility.
Current printer drivers are being written with a single INF file that is used for multiple operating systems. These types of INF files cannot be added to the RMS database unless the client and server support packs are applied. Refer to Novell’s support Web site for a document regarding adding printer drivers to the RMS database and also for product updates.
