DESCRIPTION

The computer may stop responding (hang) at the Intel Management Engine screen for several minutes, or the USB-C ports may not work after the BIOS firmware is updated. This occurs when a unit is docked and the dock is connected to the DisplayPort (DP) when updating the BIOS. This occurs with any BIOS update tool.

The following symptoms are exhibited:

Unit hangs at the Intel ME firmware update screen for nearly 5 to 10 minutes.
USB-C ports do not function after BIOS update.
USB-C adapter may not charge the battery.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this issue from occurring, disconnect the Docking Display prior to updating the BIOS and Firmware.
