HP Pen Plotters - HP-GL Plotters on a Network: Overlay Problem

Issue:
When plotting to an HP-GL plotter on a network, all of the plots are plotted on top of each other on the same sheet of paper.
Solution
Most of the HP-GL plotters were designed and released long before networking was a practical concept; they were designed for use with either a standalone workstation (direct) or a mainframe (eavesdrop) where the user was within direct reach of the plotter and could easily change the sheets after each plot.
To have the plotter separate plots, it has to be capable of recognizing some sort of end of file command, either a PG (Page eject) or a NR (Not Ready) command (both listed below).
 note:
The 7440A, 7470A and 7475A do not support either of these commands. There is no possible workaround on the plotter itself.
  1. The PG command is valid on three HP-GL plotters; the HP 7550A Plus Plotter, the HP 7586B Drafting Plotter with roll feed media and the HP 7596A DraftMaster II. On all other HP-GL only plotters, the PG command is ignored.
  2. The NR command is valid on the HP 7550A Plus Plotter, HP DraftPro DXL plotters, HP 7585A and 7585B Drafting plotters, or HP DraftMaster I/II plotter. This command will cause the plotter to stop plotting and enter into a Not Ready or a View state. To exit this state, you must press the VIEW button on the front of the plotter or manually load a new sheet of media.
