HP Designjet 2500CP/3500CP Printes - What is a PPD and How is it Used?

Issue:
What is a PPD? What information and selections are provided to the driver by the PPD?
Solution
A PPD file, or PostScript (TM) Printer Description file, is a file that contains specific information about unique printer features which are not part of the core PostScript driver. Following are specifics of the PPD information provided to the driver and where a user would find that information.
In all cases where the setting is called Printer’s Default that means the setting is whatever the front control panel of the HP DesignJet 2500CP printer currently shows for that function or feature.
