Description

The optional Rollfeed accessory is composed of three main modules: right and left roll supports, and a spindle. The Rollfeed is designed to provide a controlled tension to the paper in order to avoid misalignment and unwinding the media.
The purpose of this separate product is to support operation of the HP Designjet 400 series printer with roll media in order to meet the following objectives:
  • Able to work both on a tabletop and a printer stand
  • Easy to install
  • Easy to use, able to be left unattended, and generally able to finish the roll without any extra alignment required
  • No PQ degradation in respect to single-sheet operation
  • Same success rate in single-sheet media load as without Rollfeed installed
  • Low cost
  • Medias supported: All the roll media supported by HP Designjet 400 series printers.

  • Roll core diameter: standard core from USA and EU. There will also be an adaptable hub to use the approximately 30 mm core diameter Asian media.

Features

  • The Rollfeed is available for all the HP Designjet 400 series printers.
    • The Rollfeed is standard with the HP Designjet 455ca printer and the HP Designjet 488ca printer
    • The Rollfeed is an option with the HP Designjet 430 printer and the HP Designjet 450c printer.
  • The Rollfeed assembly does not require legs to be mounted. Mount the Rollfeed assembly on the printer, and then use it as a desktop printer without using legs.
  • The Rollfeed assembly is user-installable and comes with easy-to-follow instructions.
  • If you have an E-size Rollfeed assembly (supporting 36-inch rolls), the end cap can also be adjusted to accommodate 24-inch rolls.
  • You can order additional spindles from your local HP dealer to make changing media more convenient. When going from one media to another, you can then simply change the spindle in the Rollfeed assembly.

Installing

The Rollfeed unit is easy to install. Simply follow the instructions included in the kit.

Using the Rollfeed

Follow the steps below.
  1. Turn on the printer and the Media light should be on solid.
  2. Select the Media type and press the Roll/Sheet key until the Roll light comes on.
  3. Load the media. The Ready light will stop flashing (this may take a minute).
  4. Should the Align Media light start to flash, lower the pincharm lever, pull the media down and align it with the right side of the roll, then raise the pincharm lever.
  5. Lower the pincharm lever, pull the media down and align it with the right side of the roll, then raise the pincharm lever. The bail should lower and the Media light will continue to flash.
  6. After the paper stops moving, trim the edge with the paper cutter.
  7. Close the cover. The Ready light will flash. When the Ready light stops flashing, the printer is ready to print.
