HP Printers - Uninstalling the Printer Software (Mac)

This document is for uninstalling printer software from computers using Mac OS X v10.10, OS X v10.9, OS X v10.8, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.6.
In order to remove a printer from your computer, you will need to uninstall the printer software. By using HP Uninstaller or Apple Software Update you can quickly begin the uninstall process.
Step 1: Uninstall HP printer software through HP Uninstaller
Uninstall the printer software using HP Uninstaller.
  1. On the desktop, double-click the Macintosh HD icon or click Finder in the Dock.
  2. Click Applications, and then click the Hewlett-Packard folder.
  3. Double-click the HP Uninstaller.
    The HP Uninstaller opens.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Select the printer to remove, and then click Uninstall.
  6. When prompted, type the Administrator name and Password, and then click OK.
     note:
    By clicking OK, all items in your trash will be permanently deleted from your computer. To delete one item in the trash, click that item to highlight it, and then click OK.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstall.
Step 2: Uninstall any software installed through Apple Software Update
Uninstall the printer software if you used Apple Software Update to install the printer software.
  1. On the desktop, double-click the Macintosh HD icon
     note:
    If the Macintosh HD icon is not on the desktop, click the Finder icon in the Dock. Click on the Macintosh HD under Devices.
  2. Double-click the Library folder.
  3. Double-click the Printers folder.
  4. Right-click (or Ctrl +click) HP folder, and then select Move to Trash.
  5. When prompted, type the Administrator name and Password for the computer, and then click OK.
    Wait for authentication to complete.
  6. Double-click the PPDs folder.
  7. Double-click the Contents folder.
  8. Double-click the Resources folder.
  9. Right-click (or Ctrl +click) the name of your printer in the product list, and select Move to Trash.
  10. When prompted, type the Administrator name and Password for the computer, and then click OK.
     note:
    By clicking OK, all items in your trash will be permanently deleted from your computer. To delete one item in the trash, click that item to highlight it, and then click OK.
    Wait for authentication to complete.
  11. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstall.
