HP Printers - Using the HP ePrint App

This document is for HP printers, Android devices, and Apple iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
Use the HP ePrint app for Android and Apple iOS devices to print photos, documents, webpages, emails, or print from cloud services such as Dropbox and Google Drive.
The HP ePrint app is a mobile application that lets you to print to any supported HP printer that is on the same local Wi-Fi network as your mobile device. HP ePrint is a cloud-based service that lets you email the document or photo you want to print directly to a HP web-enabled printer from anywhere with an active Internet connection. Go to Setting Up and Using HP ePrint for more information.

Step 1: Install the HP ePrint app
Install the HP ePrint app on your Android device, or Apple iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
  1. On your mobile device, open the Wi-Fi settings and make sure you are connected to the wireless network.
  2. Select your mobile device to download and install the HP ePrint app.
    • Android devices: Download and install the HP ePrint app (in English) from the Google Play Store.
    • Apple iPad, iPhone, iPod touch: Download and install the HP ePrint app (in English) from the App Store.
    Once the app installs, a Welcome to HP ePrint screen displays.
  3. On the Welcome to HP ePrint screen, tap Activate Now or Skip.
    If you skip activation, select your usage data collection option, then tap Done.
  4. Type your email address in the Activate using your email box, then tap Activate.
    The HP ePrint service sends you an email containing an Activation Code.
  5. Check your email, then note the Personal Identification Number (PIN) code in the email sent from the HP ePrint service.

  6. Return to the HP ePrint app, type the code, then tap Activate.
  7. When prompted, select your usage data preferences, then tap Done.
    The HP ePrint app detects any printers on the network.
  8. Select your printer.
Step 2: Print with the HP ePrint app
Print documents, photos, email, and webpages all through the app, or print from cloud services such as Dropbox and Google Drive.
  • Print a document saved on your mobile device (Android devices only)
    1. Open the HP ePrint app, then tap Files.
    2. Select the file type or open your file folder, then select the document that you want to print.
    3. On the preview screen, tap the print settings icon to make any changes to the print settings.
       note:
      The availability of the print settings icon varies by mobile device.
    4. Return to the preview screen and tap Print.
  • Print a photo saved on your mobile device
    1. Open the HP ePrint app, then tap Photos.
    2. Select the photo that you want to print, then tap Next, depending on your mobile device.
    3. On the preview screen, make any changes to the photo with the app editing tools or tap the print settings icon to make any changes to the print settings.
       note:
      The availability of the icon for the app photo editing tools and print settings vary by mobile device.

    4. Return to the preview screen and tap Print.
  • Print an email message
    1. Open the HP ePrint app, then tap Email.
    2. Tap your email service, then type your email address and password to allow the app to securely access the account.
      The email inbox opens.
    3. Select the email that you want to print.
    4. Select Email Body or any attachments, if necessary, then tap Print, depending on your mobile device.
    5. On the preview screen, tap the print settings icon or to make any changes to the print settings.

    6. Return to the preview screen and tap Print.
  • Print a webpage
    1. Open the HP ePrint app, then tap Web.
    2. Search for or type the website you want to print, depending on your device.
    3. On the preview screen, tap the print settings icon or to make any changes to the print settings.
       note:
      The availability of the print settings icon varies by mobile device.
    4. Return to the preview screen and tap Print.
  • Print from a cloud service (Apple iOS devices only)
    1. Open the HP ePrint app, then tap Cloud.
    2. Select your cloud service account or add your cloud service account information, if prompted.
      Your cloud service account opens.
    3. Select the item that you want to print.
    4. On the preview screen, make any changes to the settings.
      • Photos: Make any changes to the photo with the app editing tools, or tap the print settings icon to make any changes to the print settings.
      • Documents: Tap the print settings icon to make any changes to the print settings.
    5. Return to the preview screen and tap Print.
