When an external monitor/CRT is connected to the system, the graphics driver will automatically assign a different CRTC port to monitor/CRT than the LCD. Due to the hardware video overlay only supporting one CRTC port at a time, the video playback will not be shown on the display connected to that port. The video playback will only be shown on either LCD or external monitor/CRT, but not simultaneously.

To enable the video overlay on the LCD or External monitor/CRT:
- Right click the desktop wall paper and select properties.
- Click the settings tab
- Go to ATI Display Page under Advanced Display Properties and assign the device to "Primary" by pushing down the button on the left underneath the device bitmap. This device will now be the primary display to display the multimedia file/DVD.
