DESCRIPTION
Certain solid state drive models may begin to fail drive diagnostic tests or cause errors during the Power-on Self-test (POST).
HP strongly encourages you to update your drive firmware.

SCOPE
Information in this document applies to the following:
Micron 1100 drives:
  • Self-encrypting solid state drives (SED):

    Identifying Micron 1100 SED Self-encrypting drive (SED); SED is indicated by "15" in the model name.

Any HP computer that has any of the above listed drives installed.
RESOLUTION
Prevent issues by updating the drive firmware. There are two different SoftPaqs, one for SED and one for non-SED drives. Determine which drive is installed as follows:
  1. Open Windows Device Manager.
  2. Expand Disk Drives.
  3. Check the model number to determine if it is SED or non-SED (refer to the SCOPE section for details).
  4. Download the apprpriate firmware SoftPaq for the drive type:
    • For SED ( ) use SoftPaq SP94892.
    • For non-SED ( ) use SoftPaq SP94885.
If your drive is already exhibiting issues, contact HP for further assistance. Please reference this document when contacting HP for assistance with this issue.
