HP Designjet Printers - Running Under AutoCAD R12 for Windows 95 or Windows 98

Issue:
When trying to plot from AutoCAD 12 for Windows, running under Windows 95 or Windows 98 the error "The Operating System detected the following error on LPT1: Printer Disabled" appears. This could happen for both a parallel connection and a serial connection. The cause seems to be a conflict with AutoCAD and Windows 95/98 trying to have control of the port.
Workaround
When plotting from AutoCAD, select Plot to a file, then select file name. In the space that allows the file name to be typed in, type in the port, for example, LPT1, COM1, or COM2. If this does not work, the only other solution would be to plot to a file as above, but give it an actual file name and copy the file from a DOS prompt to the port the printer is connected to.
 note:
AutoCAD 12 for Windows is not supported in Windows 95 or 98. AutoDesk only supports AutoCAD v13 c4 or greater in the Windows 95/98 environment.
